About Stoke-on-Trent

Stoke-on-Trent also as referred Stoke. It is a unitary authority area situated in Staffordshire, England. Along with neighbouring boroughs of Staffordshire Moorlands and Newcastle-under-Lyme in the year, this had a population of 469,000.  Stoke is also known as polycentric because it has been formed by the collaboration of six towns in the year 1910.

In Stoke upon Trent main centre of the railway station and the government is located. The major commercial centre is Hanley, and the other towns are Longton, Fenton, Tunstall and Burslem. Pottery Industry is located in Stoke-On-Trent in England, and this town is also known as Potteries. Now it is also a significant centre for distribution and service industries.

Education

In Stoke-on-Trent, there are four higher education colleges and two colleges for further education. The names of further education colleges are Stoke-on-Trent college and City of Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College. Sixth Form College provides best class education to near about 1800 students. Stoke-on-Trent College is less specialised. It offers adult education and apprenticeships, and its main campus is located in Shelton and secondary campus in Burslem.

Staffordshire University is located in Stoke-On-Trent and its main site located in Shelton which is near the Stoke-On-Trent railway station. In 1922, it achieved the university status. Stoke-On-Trent has around 15 secondary schools namely Ormiston Horizon, St Peter’s Academy, St Joseph’s College, Sandon High School, Haywood Academy, Excel Academy, and Discovery Academy etc.

Structure of Stoke-on-Trent’s high school was proposed in the year 2007. Under this plan, various established schools were closed or collaborated with each other. Stoke week is commonly known as the Potter’s Holidays, and it happens in the last week in June, July first week and in any week of August.

Major Areas to visit

Ceramics collection of Stoke-on-Trent is kept in the Hanley’s Potteries Museum and Art Gallery. In Stoke-On-Trent city, major pottery industries are located. Wedgewood museum visitor centre was opened which costs around 10 million euros is in the firm’s factory. Dudson museum located in Hanley is a museum of family ceramics business. World’s oldest working Victorian pottery centre is Burleigh located in Middleport.

In Stoke-On-Trent, some small factory shops are located like Royal Stafford in Burslem, Emma Bridgewater, in Hanley and Cobridge and Moorcroft. There are also plans to open a large mining museum named Chatterley Whitfield Colliery, and its monument status has been scheduled. 17th-century farmhouse Elizabethan Ford Green Hall is now a historic house museum located on the Small throne.

A pleasure boat named Miss Elizabeth travels within the Trentham Gardens and to the length of Trentham Lake. According to many people, Trentham Gardens is situated in Stoke-On-Trent, but in actual, it is located in the Stafford Borough. Next to it is the Trentham Monkey Forest located which keeps around 140 Barbary Macaques and it has a 60-acre enclosure in which the visitors can roam here and there.

Alton Towers Resort is located 10 miles Stoke-On-Trent east, and it is the best-known attractions of United Kingdom. On Festival Park situated near Hanley is a Water world Indoor Swimming Complex and it is also a significant attraction for the Children’s. In Stoke-On-Trent, every six towns have at least one park.

Natural reserve located in Stoke is Hart Still Park. In Stoke-On-Trent, the most significant body of water is Westport Lake which is in Longport. In Dresden, Longton Park or also called Queens Park is one of the heritage parks of the city, and it is famous for its lakes and horticulture. It includes various buildings namely clock tower and three pavilions for bowling.
