Throughout the late 19th century and beyond, Bournemouth developed to cover these ancient settlement s along the River Stour where a skull which is thought to be over 5,500 years old was found in 1932. During the 20th Century, Bournemouth’s growth increased due to the major income from tourism having theatres, cafes, cinemas and 5 star hotels were built along the sea front.
