Customised Project Management Training: Course Building Notes

Public Sector Project Management

Important notes to remeber when building your course:

1. Courses cannot exceed 330 minutes per day, regardless of when delegates normally work. Learning is not the same activity as normal working day and other factors apply:

2. Studies have shown that the optimum learning time is an hour and a half before taking a break, with four sessions in a day. Beyond this limit, concentration can lapse, learning new concepts becomes more difficult and fatigue will set in. Learning new skills and techniques requires time to assimilate the knowledge, and pushing beyond the 330 minute barrier will reduce the knowledge transfer.

3. The time allowance for each session is, by nature, approximate and the trainer will adjust to each set of conditions accordingly. If one session goes beyond the time set, because of delegates engaging in discussions or seeking advice on how to apply the technique in practice, then less time will be available in the remaining sessions.

4. Please select a maximum of 330 minutes for one day, 660 for two days etc. If required, the customer can select additional topics – maximum of one per day – which will be completed only where the trainer considers there will be sufficient time during the course. These extra topics must be clearly indicated as OPTIONAL. We do not guarantee that they can be completed.

5. A training course does not create a complete project manager. The training course is the start of the learning process, not the end. Following any training course, learning to apply the knowledge, and how it affects each person and organisation, will take time. Experience cannot be taught.
